Seema Mattu

Seema Mattu

Seema Mattu is a British multidisciplinary artist working across digital media, installation, performance, and socially engaged practice. Her work explores themes of identity, migration, race, memory, and belonging, often drawing from her South Asian heritage and diasporic experience in the United Kingdom. Through the use of digital technologies, participatory methods, and community collaboration, she examines how cultural narratives are constructed, archived, and reimagined. Mattu’s practice frequently engages with marginalized voices, addressing structural inequalities while creating spaces for dialogue and reflection. Blending research-based inquiry with experimental media, she challenges dominant historical frameworks and foregrounds lived experience as a form of knowledge production. Her projects move between the personal and the political, positioning digital art as a tool for critical storytelling and collective memory-making. Her work has been presented in exhibitions, public programmes, and collaborative platforms across the UK and internationally, contributing to ongoing conversations around decolonial archives, representation, and digital futures.
