Promina Shrestha

Promina Shrestha is a Nepali illustrator, comics artist, and visual arts researcher whose practice bridges children’s literature, mythology, and visual culture studies. Trained in Arts and Aesthetics at Jawaharlal Nehru University and with a background in art and design, she works across print and digital media, using playful yet conceptually layered illustration to explore questions of identity, memory, and cultural representation. Her work engages Nepali folktales, regional histories, and contemporary social themes, often challenging singular or exoticized narratives of “Nepaliness.” Alongside her independent projects, she has collaborated with national and international publishers and co-founded initiatives supporting comics and visual storytelling in Nepal. She is currently immersed in creative projects while farming in Nepal, where land, locality, and lived experience continue to inform her evolving visual language.
