Yudhanjaya Wijeratne

Yudhanjaya Wijeratne is a Sri Lankan science fiction author, data scientist, and civic technologist. His internationally recognized novels—Numbercaste, The Salvage Crew, and The Inhuman Race—blend speculative storytelling with explorations of technology, politics, and society, earning him a Nebula Award nomination.

Beyond writing, he is the co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of Watchdog, Sri Lanka’s leading fact-checking and civic tech collective. He has also worked as a senior researcher at LIRNEasia, focusing on data, algorithms, and policy, where he developed projects in social networks, OSINT, and computational linguistics.

Yudhanjaya’s practice often extends into digital art and AI, experimenting with human-AI co-creation and data-driven narratives that push the boundaries of contemporary storytelling.
