Sounak Das
Sounak Das (b. Dhaka, Bangladesh) is a visual artist and photographer whose practice explores the interplay of memory, time, and the urban environment. Working primarily with photography, video, and mixed media, he investigates how cities carry both personal and collective histories, often layering light, architecture, and fragments of everyday life to evoke dreamlike narratives.
His work reflects on the fleeting and fragile nature of human experience within rapidly transforming landscapes. Through experimental techniques, Das reimagines the photographic image as both documentation and metaphor, creating atmospheric compositions that blur the lines between the real and the imagined. He has exhibited widely in Bangladesh and internationally, emerging as one of the leading contemporary voices in South Asian visual practice.
