Fazail Lutfi
Fazail Lutfi is a Maldivian-born interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans video, installation, and sculpture. His works create immersive spaces where affect, experience, and sensation take precedence, inviting viewers into open-ended encounters shaped by ambiguity and interpretation. Rooted in themes of identity, memory, place, and imagination, his practice reflects both personal histories and broader cultural contexts.
Fazail earned a BA in Dramatic Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa (2001), and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studies (Visual Arts and Media Production & Studies) from the University of Regina, Canada (2007). Currently based in Melbourne, Australia, he continues to experiment with interdisciplinary forms, blending conceptual inquiry with sensory engagement to expand the language of contemporary art.
